This has been a big week.  We have completed our first of Fall Ball and now we have our first tournament of the fall.  We have 14 teams this weekend which is pretty good considering all the activity this week.  Attached are brackets for this weekend.  With on 3 teams in Tee Ball and Coach, we went with a Round Robin to single elimination.  This means everyone is guaranteed three games.  The 10U and 12u are straight double elimination. Everyone submitted rosters.. This is a league team tournament.  It should be the league drafted team.  If for some reason you drop below 10 players, teams can pickup up to 2 players to make no more than 10 players.  The players must be registered in the same league.  We trying to this an event for all those girls that will never make all-stars or a school ball team.  It lets them experience a more competitive atmosphere.  We are playing league rules.. everyone is listed on the lineup… no player can sit out two innings in a row. The entry fee for the tournament is a flat $100 per team.  There will be a gate fee for the parents.  Some of these Rec parents may be in for a shock.  Please remind them this is a fundraiser for the Harrison Hancock League and all the money raised goes to their kids. Fall ball registrations are well underway and almost complete.  Reports are a good solid registration for most leagues with a lot of interest in playing this year.  This looks to be the biggest fall season ever.  Interleague play will start on Oct 9th and wrap up on Nov 11th, 2023.  Input is needed from participating leagues no later than Monday Sept 17th so schedules can be put together. Below is summary of leagues that indicated an interest in interleague play: • Biloxi • D’Iberville • East Central • Harrison-Hancock (Dedeaux only) • Long Beach • Ocean Springs • Pascagoula • Pass Christian • Poplarville (no teams, maybe tournaments) • Saucier • St. Martin • Woolmarket Please let me know if I left anyone off the list. It’s here.. the final weekend of the summer.. I’d like to thank everyone for hanging in there to the very end. We have a very strong 41 teams playing in this weekend’s South State Tournament. Tee ball and Coach Pitch will play straight double elimination. Fast Pitch will play a 3 game guarantee. The rate for tee ball will be $175, Coach Pitch is $250 and Fast Pitch is $350. Since fast pitch games are more, I’m trying to make sure every has at least three games. Tee Ball & Coach Pitch will play Friday and Saturday. Fast pitch will play Saturday and Sunday. Even though it’s a 3 day tournament, individual teams will only be there for two days. We will keep the rules we’ve been playing by. It’s going to be tremendously important to keep the tournament on schedule with so many teams. Tee Ball & Coach Pitch will be no new inning after 55 minutes. Fast pitch will be no new inning after 65 mins. 10U will play 3 outs or 7 runs. All tie games will use the International Tie-Break rules. “If" games will be complete games; not shoot-outs. The inclement weather policy is included along with the Zero Tolerance Policy. Anyone ejected during the tournament will be gone for the rest of the weekend. This event is for the kids and we’re going to keep it that way. Teams should be prepared to play as soon as the prior game has completed. This is especially true if two fresh teams are coming on the field. We’ll be prudent if a team has played a few games in a row. One coach per team will need to take the ACE training; it does not have to be the head coach. It’s available at registerusasoftball.com. Please arrive in time to make any roster adjustments. Those that haven’t paid will need to do that also. Rosters are not locked, but will be once the tournament has started. The roster will be locked as soon as your first game starts. No players will be added after that time. There will not be a coaches meeting and players won’t sign-in. Finally, we ask every to remember Moss Point this week. The mayor has put out a call for water, can goods, baby items, non-perishable food, toilet paper, paper towels. The D’Iberville Girls Softball League will be collecting donations to assist with disaster relief. They will also have a donation can for anyone wanting to contribute cash. It’s important to remember that everyone isn’t as fortunate as we will be at the ball field. Please get your players to start hydrating. This goes for parents and grandparents too. First of all, I’d like to thank everyone for your contributions to girls softball in South Mississippi. Years ago, I took over the Biloxi league for one simple reason. The girls deserve everything the boys have… the same opportunities. A place where they can play and compete against one another. They can learn the game and all the great life lessons that come from it. Without everyone’s combined efforts, these girls wouldn't have a chance to play this great game. For that, you have my sincerest appreciation. Secondly, I’d like to thank everyone for playing in one of the tournament trail events. Girls enjoy league ball, but weekend ball is a new experience for most. It’s brings together kids from all over the region for a fun weekend at the ball park. They don’t even know the life lessons they are really learning… teamwork, sportsmanship, and resiliency to name a few. They come to play softball.. and wound up in leadership training. We had a great weekend in Woolmarket at the Gulf Coast Championships. We had a strong showing of 44 teams. Competition was tough with some great games. I’m very proud to say we had very few problems. We also ran fairly close to on schedule. Thanks to everyone in Woolmarket that help make the tournament a wonderful success. This weekend is the final event of the season. It’s the USA Softball of Mississippi South State Championships. We do understand some may be ready for a vacation or just some air conditioning. But we hope most teams will hang in for one more weekend. Teams can register at https://usasoftballsouthms.com/?page_id=4305. You can see who’s registered at https://usasoftballsouthms.com/?page_id=4307. The entry fee for South State for Tee Ball is $250, Coach Pitch is $250 and Fast Pitch is $350. The event will be held at the D’Iberville Sports Complex at 15641 MS Hwy 15, D’Iberville, MS 39532. The website asks for payment online. That’s a state requirement. If you’re not able to pay online, it will take your registration without it. Just close the window. Then check the Teams Registered page to make sure you’re on the list. Please register as soon as you can for this weekend. I’ll close registration off late Wednesday night. D’Iberville only has four fields; so we’ll need the extra time for planning the event. At this point, I don’t whether it’s a Friday/Saturday, Saturday/Sunday, or Friday/Saturday/Sunday event. We’re prefer to keep it to a two day event.. but it’s going to a challenge. Teams will need the following: Championship Roster (I’ll bring the ones submitted at the GCC) Birth Certificates for each player Recent Photo for each player ACE Certification for at least one coach.
