The USA Softball and its local associations are volunteer driven not-for profit organizations. One of USA Softball’s objectives is to promote proper safeguards in accordance with the spirit of true sportsmanship and establish principles for ethical behavior in the sport of softball. Consistent with promoting wholesome and safe competition, coaches and team officials must be cleared by a criminal background and/or motor vehicle record (or “driving record”) check.
USA Softball may also obtain reports on your criminal background and/or driving history from a “consumer reporting agency.” The report may include information gathered from county, federal, statewide or other record searches, as guided by personal identifier information obtained through a Social Security Number trace, name address or other information.
USA Softball has contracted with LexisNexis, a consumer reporting agency, to provide the consumer reports. LexisNexis may be contacted by mail at LexisNexis, P.O. Box 105108, Atlanta, GA, 30348, by telephone at 800-845-6004 or through the internet at http://www.lexisnexis.com/.
All coaches and team personnel must provide proof of this background to be allowed on the field of play or team areas in USA Softball Championship Play. A Notice of Background Check Consent Form must be signed and fee submitted to District Commissioner to initiative a background check. This check must be re-newed each playing year. It should be noted the Background Check is included with the ACE Coaches Certification.
Please contact your District Commissioner for more information.
