It’s especially timely with the Olympics going on that the official transition from ASA Softball to USA Softball has been announced. And even better, the International Olympics Committee (IOC) voted last week to add baseball and softball to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Program. Softball is back. ASA/USA is making the transition to better connect the Junior Olympic Program to the National Teams. The pinnacle of every American athlete’s dream is to wear the red, white and blue with USA across their chest.
Mississippi ASA/USA Softball is making the transition also. We’ve been discussing some potential realignments of Districts. Quite likely District 1 (Gulf Coast) will expand to include all of south Mississippi. I’m still considering names for the new District, but I’m leaning towards USA Softball of South Mississippi. The District will be much more than just the coast, so I’m looking for a name that will reflect the region.
So it’s time to get ready for the Fall Season 2016. The Fall Meeting for USA Softball of South Mississippi will be at the upstairs meeting room at the Donal Snyder Center on Thursday, August 25th, 2016 at 6:00 PM. Please note we won’t be in our normal room. We will be upstairs at Donal Snyder. The address is 2520 Pass Road, Biloxi, MS 39531.
Leagues host tournaments in the summer. But since most leagues aren’t playing, teams host tournaments in the fall. So if you’re team is interested in hosting a tournament. Please plan on attending the meeting. You’ll need to where and when you could host a tournament. It’s a great chance to make some money for your team.
Thanks for Playing USA Softball!
