Dear Fellow Softball Enthusiasts,
It’s getting to be that time again. Opening Day will be here before we know it. Everyone should be preparing for registration and getting those fields back into playing shape. Softball time is almost here. The District Meeting will be on Thursday, Feb 21st, 2013 at 6:30 PM. The meeting will be at the Donal Snyder Community Center at 2520 Pass Road in Biloxi.
We have a few new leagues joining us this year. Vancleave, St. Martin, Orange Grove, Stone/Wiggins & Saucier are planning to play ASA Softball. It’s great to see grow softball on the coast. We will need to evolve the way we do things to keep our group strong with the additional leagues. I encourage everyone to think of out of the box on how we can do things better and provide even more opportunities for girls to play softball. Please bring those ideas to the meeting so we can discuss.
Our umpire numbers were down last year. A large part of the ASA Mission is to train/educate coaches and umpires. We need to have a renewed focus on bring new folks into the umpiring ranks and getting them properly trained. With the economy the way it is, it’s a great way to make a extra money and have a little fun too.

League Presidents should plan to attend the meeting. Anyone else interested is also free to attend. It helps all of us to have people knowledgeable and ready to step in and help.
