As of the 2:00 pm advisory today, we are right in the middle of the cone of uncertainly for the path of Tropical Storm Nate or possibly Hurricane Nate. While the storm is still a long way from here with the it just entering the gulf tomorrow, it seems destined to effect our weather situation this weekend.
In the interest of safety of the players and families, I’m afraid we need to cancel this weekend’s tournament. It just seems more important for us to prepare for what I expect to minimal hurricane or tropical storm than to be out playing ball. The safety and security of the players and families is way more important than the game of softball.
We try to make the best decisions we can given the information available. We will most likely be under a Hurricane Watch tomorrow. The Seabee base and NASA will enter Hurricane Condition IV status tomorrow. The Parks and Rec staff will be securing the city’s recreational facilities. The City of Biloxi has even encouraged guests of Crusin’ the Coast to head back early.
I encourage everyone to prepare accordingly. We will likely to see strong winds and rain. Hopefully it passes quickly with a minimum of impact. We’ll get back to playing the game we love next weekend.
Thanks for your understanding and take care,
