Dear Fellow Softball Enthusiasts,
I hope this email finds everyone doing well. It’s almost softball time; ready or not! Warmer temperatures will soon be here and we’ll be in the dirt soon. Looks like everyone has started their registrations and getting their leagues organized. Hopefully, we can have a more “normal” year with fewer restrictions and dry weather. There seems to be a lot of interest in working between the leagues and providing the girls opportunities to play this great game. Our spring meeting is a great opportunity to see everyone and see what everyone else is doing.
It’s been an eventful year already for USA Softball of Mississippi. Our long-time State Commissioner, ET Colvin, retired on Oct 31st then recently passed away. The State Umpire in Chief retired when ET retired. There will a numerous leadership changes and staff additions in the next year as we build the new organization. Davey Cole of Tupelo has been appointed as the new State Commissioner. Davey has been a long-time umpire in the Tupelo area working numerous state and national championships. Chris Mcgee has been appointed the new State Umpire in Chief. Most of you know Chris; long-time umpire who has worked state, national, international and collegiate levels. I have been selected as the State Junior Olympic program. Davey and Chris are scheduled to attend our meeting.
Here’s details on the meeting:
What: USA Softball of South Mississippi Spring Meeting
When: Thursday, Feb 17th, 2022 at 6:00 PM

This meeting is open to everyone. League Presidents should plan to attend the meeting; whether you’ve sanctioned with USA Softball in the past or not. We are all stronger when we work together. Please pass along this invite to any new board members that would like to attend. It helps all of us to have people knowledgeable and ready to step in and help. I’d also appreciate if everyone would please let me know if there are any changes in your organization.
USA Softball has many important responsibilities as the National Governing Body of Softball in the United States. A very important distinction between USA Softball and other athletic organizations. USA Softball is not a tournament organization. Recreational play and invitational tournaments are left to individuals, groups or organization to administer. The proceeds for these efforts remain with the hosts to support their organizations. USA Softball provides support to those entities to enhance and enable their efforts. As the National Governing Body, USA Softball conducts Championship Play events leading to the crowning of Local Association and National Champions.
I also encourage everyone to Like the USA Softball of South MS Facebook page. It’s the best way to stay in touch with the latest information. The URL to the group is below:
