And we’re off… to All Stars. The first week is off to a very good start with 25 teams. There is always a transition from league team tournament to All Stars. So it’s great to see such a good response. Attached is the bracket for this weekend’s tournament. The tournament will be held at Hood Field in Wiggins. The address is 460 Old Hwy 49, Wiggins, MS.
The entry fee is $175 for TB/CP and $200 for FP. Checks should be made payable to Stone Wiggins Recreation Association or SWRA.
All Star rules are different. So it’s important to review the changes so you’re not surprised. Latest rules can be found at Playing Rules. So be aware… here’s some important points:
TB
– Coach can not assist the batter in addressing the tee. The batter must step in the box and address the tee on their own. The coach can adjust the tee for them. No positioning the player in the box.
– Any player can make any play anywhere on the field
– Overtime will be modified ITB will start with a runner on second and 2 outs
CP
– Coach must start with a foot touching rubber when pitching
– Any player can make any play
– No overthrow at first base
10u
– Straight softball rules
– coach does not come in to pitch no matter how many walks, HBP, or drop thirds (no three walks)
– 5 runs per inning
12u/16u
– Straight softball rules
– Option to bat 9, 10 (4 outfielders) or 11 with an Extra Player
– No run limit per inning
– DP/Flex allowed
Weather is calling for Mostly Sunny with temperatures in the high 80’s. Looks like summer is upon us. It ought to be a great day for softball. Be sure to have your players hydrate starting Friday night.
