Below are brackets for this weekend’s 2026 Stone Rec Team Tournament. We have 29 teams competing this weekend. We are using 6 fields to keep it to a one day tournament.
The tournament will be held at Hood Field in Wiggins. The address is 460 Old Hwy 49, Wiggins, MS. The entry fee is $125 for all teams. Candace Boone is your tournament director and Ben Gammons will be your UIC.
A few things to cover.
1. We do understand these are league teams. They don’t necessarily have the commitment you’d get out of a travel ball group. But if you have an 8:00 AM game, players can’t show up at 8:00 AM. You know there will be a line at the gate. So get there early. Every tournament I’ve coached, the umpires want to get off to a great start. The plate meeting is generally about 10 minutes before 8; not 10 minutes after 8. We don’t like having to forfeit teams.. but it very well could happen.
2. Sometimes games can end early.. so it’s imperative to keep up with the brackets. If we do have a blowout or a forfeit, games can be pushed forward significantly. It’s best to leave someone at the fields to keep with the schedule. It’s the job of the teams to know when they play. Don’t go by the times on the bracket.
3. There will be thousands of umpire calls throughout the day. 50% of the crowd will disagree with every call. It’s the umpire’s job to do the very best they can. But I guarantee an umpire is going to make a bad call… Human error is a part of the game. We work really hard with our umpires. They take great pride in the job they do. Both Ben and I have their backs. If there is a misapplication of the rules, we’ll be glad to provide assistance. But “arguing” with the umpires is not part of the game. We strive for a positive environment for the kids. Those not contributing to this positive environment will be invited to witness the game from the parking lot or further. We ask you to support these kids and be the example of good sportsmanship.
Looking forward to a great day in Wiggins. Should be warm.. so hydrate early.. watch out for the elderly.
Thanks for Playing USA Softball!
