The 6U, 8U and 10-U Divisions will play at the Rusty Quave Sports Complex at 15641 MS Hwy 15, D’Iberville, MS 39532. The 12U and 16U Divisions will play at the Woolmarket Sports Complex. The address is 16520 Switzer Park Rd, Biloxi, MS 39532. Be sure to put “SWITZER PARK” into your address. Otherwise you’ll end up someplace else….
This tournament is dedicated to memory of Amanda Ward. Amanda and her brother, Jimmy, were tragically killed in a car accident while heading to school. Here’s a link to a special dedication to Amanda for those interested in learning more: https://www.dgysl.org/amanda-ward-memorial-scholarship.
We have an amazing 56 teams this weekend. We even have an 18 team bracket for 8U. So it’s going to be a lot of games over the course of the weekend. The weather forecast isn’t the greatest. So might be dodging some showers. All the fields at Rusty Quave are turf. Fields conditions for the lower age groups should be good. We are using four fields in Woolmarket. They are dirt fields but they drain pretty good. It’s also a good idea to bring a few dry rags to keep the balls fresh.
These Rec Team tournaments have stayed on schedule for the most part. Some coaches may not be familiar with how scheduling works in a tournament format. We have a schedule that serves as a guide and has the order of games being played. Some of these games have not been close and we’ve had a few forfeits. Playing an hour or so early has happened in some age divisions. Each coach is responsible for knowing when they play. Updates to schedule will be marked on the brackets… But it’s important to keep track of the game being played ahead of your game. Your game will start approximately 10 minutes after the game in front of yours.
We’ll need everyone’s patience and understanding. We should be the examples for our children on what’s good sportsmanship looks like.
Thanks for Playing USA Softball!
