1. First, I’d like to thank all the teams that participated in the 2011 Gulf Coast Championships this weekend. It was a great weekend for softball. We had 50 teams. We finished up around 7:00PM on Sunday night. I posted the results out on the Facebook page located at http://www.facebook.com/GulfCoastASA. You’ll have to check out Facebook to get the results.
Helena did a great job as our host. They worked really hard to make the weekend a special experience. Our support will do great things to help support their softball program.
2. The Picayune Youth Softball Association (PYSA) will host their annual Girls Invitational Tournament this weekend. The tournament is scheduled for June 17-19, 2011. They will host all age groups; Tee Ball, Coach Pitch, 10u, 12u & 16u. The tournament will be at the Friendship Park at 815 N. Beech Street in Picayune. I encourage everyone to register as soon as possible. Picayune supports our tournament by participating in all our tournaments. We need to support their girls and have a good showing in their invitational.

3. Championship Play. The time to make your plans for participating in the State Tournaments is here. If you want to play, I need your Tournament Entry Form and Entry Fee as soon as possible. Don’t delay. The Mississippi ASA staff has a lot of work to do in preparation for the tournament. Please fax your entry as soon as possible, then drop a check in the mail. My fax number is 228.246.0267. My address is 700 South Hill Court, Biloxi, MS 39532.
The check should be made out to MS ASA District 1. Here are the rates for each tournament:
Coach Pitch South State: $200.00
Fast Pitch C-State: $275.00
Fast Pitch B-State: $325.00
Fast Pitch A-State: $325.00
4. New Tournament: I will be adding a new tournament to the schedule. East Central Girls Softball will host an Invitational Tournament in Hurley the weekend of July 17-19, 2011. That’s the same weekend as Coach Pitch State, so most Coach Pitch teams will be in Ridgeland. But they would love to everyone else come and play. I’ve heard they have a wonderful facility. We have a lot of summer left. Just because we had the State Tournament doesn’t mean that our teams have to quit playing. The more they play, the better our players will get. I encourage everyone to go support their tournament.
