By popular demand and because it’s a small tournament, we made some adjustments. Coach Pitch, 10u and 12u will all play two pool games and seeded into a single elimination bracket. This way everyone will be guaranteed three games. Several people have asked for it. And we think being as it’s an early tournament, it’s a good thing for the coaches to see their teams perform. It also allows more players to participate. In pool games, you will be allowed to bat your whole lineup if you wish. Tee play will play two out of three because of just having two teams. Unfortunately, 14u didn’t make. But school ball is coming to a close. So it’s should start in the week or two.
Forecast is for some early rain on Saturday. We have some flexibility in the schedule. So we should be able to get it in on Saturday. Be patient and I’m sure Helena will do everything possible so the teams can play.
As a reminder, all players must be ASA Individually Registered. If you are not registered, it can be done online at https://www.usasoftballsouthms.com/?page_id=1532
It’s super important for all players to be Individually Registered. First, it includes a supplemental accident liability insurance policy providing a benefit to the player if anything were to happen. Second, it includes a general liability policy that protects the tournament and the tournament host if anything were to happen.
So we’re going to be stricter this year. The rules state all players must be Individually Registered. As such, as player participating that is not registered will be considered an ineligible player. The penalty for use of an ineligible player is forfeiture of the game. It was brought to my attention that it’s not fair for some teams to register all of their players and some don’t. I had to agree with it. It’s something that needs to be done for all the right reasons. So in addition to your birth certificates, coaches should have your ASA Player Registration Cards with you at the tournament.
Thanks you Playing ASA!
