I hope everyone caught up on their sleep this weekend with all the rain. I’ve been working on rescheduling the Gulf Coast Championships.
It was very complicated negotiation. We do a draft in February. According to our procedures, next weekend was Ocean Springs’ weekend to host their invitational tournament. Ocean Springs gave up probably an $8-10k weekend so Picayune could have a chance to host this weekend. Picayune also understood the situation and knew what it would mean to the Ocean Springs program. To compensate Ocean Springs for their loss, I’ve awarded Ocean Springs the District Tournament next year to make up the loss.
It shows what great people we have on the coast. We all worked together for the good our girls. I’d like to thank all those involved for putting aside their parochial interests for the good of the girls.
The Gulf Coast Championships will be held in Picayune, MS this weekend. Dates for the tournament is Jun 15-17th, 2012. We will host all age groups: Tee Ball, Coach Pitch, 10u, 12u, 14u & 16u. I anticipate playing the tournament on Saturday and Sunday. If we can play an age group in one day, we will. Some age groups will probably have to play on Sunday. It just depends on how many teams want to play. I won’t know for sure until I do the brackets.
The brackets will be all new. So we’ll need to do registration all over again. I need to know who’s playing or not. So it’s a complete do over.
Please REGISTER ONLINE & EARLY. Primary communications will be via email. Registration will close Thursday at noon.. I’ll work to have the brackets out before midnight on Thursday. When they are done, they will be posted at https://usasoftballsouthms.com/.
